In short: the App Store and Google Play version of Nefesly has no server of its own. Your night recordings, notes and results stay on your phone. No data is sent to us, to advertisers or to anyone else.

What is processed on the phone

• Night audio. During a recording the microphone listens for snoring and for moments when breathing is not heard. Audio is processed and stored on the phone; you choose in Settings how long it is kept. When that time is up the audio is deleted and the drawing of the night stays.
• What you enter. Evening notes (caffeine, alcohol and so on), your wake up note, dream notebook, treatment tracking.
• Apple Health and Apple Watch. If you allow it, night readings from Health (heart rate, oxygen, respiratory rate, heart rate variability, breathing disturbances, wrist temperature, sleep stages) are read and shown next to what the phone heard. If you turn it on, only time in bed is written to Health. Night movement from the watch also stays on the phone. Health data is never used for advertising, marketing or any other purpose and is never shared.
• City. For dawn prayer and sahur times you pick your city from a list. No location permission is requested.
• Your own files. Documents and audio files you add for listening and the photo you choose for a clock face are only copied into the app's folder.

Backups

Night recordings, notes and data read from Health are not included in iCloud or Google backups and are not moved to another phone. If you change phones, this data does not come along.

Sharing

An audio clip, share card or specialist summary (PDF) leaves the phone only when you choose to share it, with the app you choose. After that, the rules of that app apply.

What is not there

• No account, sign in or registration.
• No ads, analytics, crash reporting or tracking code.
• The app has no server to connect to. The only exception is the optional sound packs on iPhone, which come through the App Store; no information reaches us.

Deleting

"Delete everything" in Settings removes all nights, audio, notes and settings. Deleting the app removes them as well. We hold no copy, so deleted data cannot be recovered.

Other people's voices

If someone else is in the room, their voice may be recorded too. If you want to record your partner or anyone else, tell them first and get their consent.

Research version

Nefesly is being developed as part of an undergraduate thesis. There is a separate research version given by invitation; it is not in the app stores and asks for separate, explicit consent inside the app before anything is sent. This page describes the store version.

Children

Nefesly is not intended for anyone under 16.

Changes

If this page changes, the new version is published here with its date. If the app ever starts sending data, this will be stated clearly here and in the app first, and it will not happen without your consent.
